A timeless home in a new guise

We have opened up the loft above the dining room, exposing the original timber beams and creating a more spacious feeling. All the windows were replaced and designed according to the original drawings this house once possessed. This is a house with soul, where the past is honoured, and the fifth generation continues the legacy.

Furniture that is 100 years old has been given places of honour in the house, and grandmother's chairs spread love around them. The clients desired a design where the traditional Swiss style harmonised with modern elements.

The greenhouse was desired to extend the summer season in the snow-clad north, whilst the terrace was strategically oriented towards the southwest to maximise sun hours. Additionally, it was important to integrate a new carport into the overall design.

Over the years, the house underwent various window changes without a holistic vision. Therefore, we went back to the drawing board and redesigned according to the original sketches from the original architect.

The greenhouse design harmonised with the existing house by maintaining the same roof pitch for a cohesive aesthetic.

The white cladding blends with the warm timber, symbolising the fusion of the old and the new.

Thanks to Kristina Nagalina who took all these beautiful photos with her architect's eye.
