A home with views and function

In scenic surroundings along the coastline in Tromsø, we have designed a modern detached house tailored for both family life and a connection to small-scale commercial operations. The house is carefully positioned with regard to views, sun conditions, and existing buildings, combining clean architectural lines with high functionality.

The house consists of six rooms, including a spacious living room with views towards the fjord, and features an integrated double garage. The volume is designed to adapt to the terrain and ensure good distance from nearby buildings, with roof overhangs and pitched roofs adding dynamics and character.

The architectural expression is characterised by large glazed areas facing east and south, providing ample daylight and panoramic views of the fjord, whilst the façades facing neighbours are more closed for privacy and fire safety.

The project is currently pending building approval from Tromsø Municipality. Dispensation has been granted from the LNFR designation (Agricultural, Nature, and Outdoor Recreation areas) and the 100-metre shoreline protection belt – a process we handled in close dialogue with both the client and the municipality. As part of the building application, we prepared a landslide risk assessment confirming safe conditions on the property, as well as an area stability assessment regarding safe building ground. Additionally, a stormwater management note and an application for expanded use of the existing access road were submitted.
